Give Little Tokyo time at street level
The area around Immermannstraße is near the main station. It can provide a manageable arrival-day loop once luggage has been stored. Do not make a single restaurant the only point of the visit; leave room for bookshops, other businesses and the everyday use of the streets.
Little Tokyo is not a theme park with common opening hours. Shops and restaurants have their own schedules. Choose one or two addresses for a specific interest and check their information directly. A long queue at a famous restaurant need not determine the entire afternoon; an alternative meal nearby may be the better decision.
If you intend to buy particular food or objects, think about carrying them first. Refrigerated purchases do not fit a subsequent long summer afternoon beside the river. Fragile items need protection and may be better bought at the end of the day. Shopping then remains part of the trip rather than becoming an extra burden.
Set an endpoint beside the Rhine
The promenade offers broad views and contrasts with the smaller-scale neighbourhood. Decide which section you actually want to walk. The old town, Rhine and MedienHafen can be linked, but every addition extends the outward and return journey. A clear finishing point with public transport nearby is useful.
Wind and direct sun may make a long waterfront route more tiring than its map distance suggests. Plan a pause and separate the walk from another substantial museum. If art is your main interest, shorten the Rhine section rather than squeezing it between two reserved exhibitions.
Across a two-day weekend, Little Tokyo and the river can occupy different half-days. You do not have to make every connection on foot. A deliberate public transport journey leaves more time at the actual destination and prevents the trip becoming mainly a sequence of transfers.
Special events can substantially change the promenade or individual streets. Check the calendar if you specifically want quiet conditions or a particular celebration. Also decide whether your evening ends in a nightlife area or closer to accommodation. A suitable return route matters more than an extra photograph requiring a late journey across the city.
